The legislators of the 124th General Assembly gathered at the statehouse this month, moving beyond the ceremonial Organization Day and into the legislative work for 2025. They have until April 29 to complete the session's duties, a deadline marked by more than just the change in seasons, according to the Indiana State Republicans release.
Senator Rogers, chair of the Senate Committee on Pensions and Labor, is ready to address a range of bills. "I am happy to be back at the Statehouse and, as the chair of the Senate Committee on Pensions and Labor, I am looking forward to reviewing and discussing legislation that my colleagues and I have been working on during the summer and fall of last year," Rogers told Indiana Senate Republicans. Her focus includes issues such as education, property taxes, and the placement of defibrillators in schools.
In the first session of each General Assembly, lawmakers must develop a fiscal plan to fund government services for the next two years. This process requires balancing the state’s budget while meeting public needs.
Senator Rogers, aware of the importance of these decisions, is open to feedback from her constituents. She encourages residents of Senate District 11 to share their thoughts through the "Contact Me" form on the Senate website or by calling 800-382-9467, as per the same release.
