
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found dead inside an apartment close to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The incident took place late last night and has left local residents shaken.
Police were initially called to respond to a reported burglary around 11:35 p.m. at a complex located in the 1700 block of East 38th Street, as per FOX59. Upon arrival, they discovered the man, now identified as 38-year-old Jeremy L. Patton, deceased with signs of trauma. Notably, there were no apparent signs of forced entry into the apartment.
Captain Don Weilhammer has stated that while the officers didn't find evidence of a break-in, the condition of the scene indicated a violent end for Patton. The Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide today, following an examination of the body, as informed by WTHR. The nature of Patton's trauma has not been disclosed to the public at this time.
As the investigation intensifies, IMPD currently has no suspects and is working to determine the circumstances leading to Patton's death. There are also no known witnesses to the crime, as reported by CBS4 Indy. Authorities are thoroughly to canvass the area, hoping to uncover information that can lead to the apprehension of the individual or individuals responsible.
