
A fatal shooting in rural Vermillion County has left a man dead and a woman critically injured after what authorities believe was a domestic disturbance. The incident occurred on Sunday evening near Perrysville and is being investigated by the Indiana State Police.
Vermillion County deputies responded to an emergency call at a residence on the 8000 block of Meridian Road around 5 p.m. When they entered the house, they found two individuals with gunshot wounds: Garrett Reynolds, 30, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tylan Leonard, 27, who had life-threatening injuries. Both victims were residents of Perrysville, as per the WWBL.
Leonard was quickly transported to a hospital in Illinois, where she remains in critical condition. According to WISH-TV, Vermillion County Sheriff Mike Holcamp has enlisted the aid of Indiana State Police for further investigation.
An autopsy for Garrett Reynolds was scheduled for yesterday at 1:00 p.m. as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, as mentioned in a WTWO report.
Local and state law enforcement are working together on the investigation, led by Detective Colton Maynor and Sergeant Michael Featherling, with support from CSI Sergeant Michael Organ of the Putnamville State Police Post. The Vermillion County Coroner’s Office is also involved in the investigation. Information will be submitted to the Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office, as confirmed by Indiana State Police representatives.
