Earlier today, a crash involving three vehicles, including a police cruiser from the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, resulted in injuries to three people. The accident occurred at the intersection of Northwest 95th Street and Northwest 29th Avenue in the West Little River area. Among the injured was a female officer from the department who was taken to the hospital as a precaution after feeling lightheaded, as reported by NBC6.
The specifics of the accident are still to be determined, but Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed they had responded to the scene after receiving reports about a traffic accident with a person possibly trapped. Upon arrival, first responders found no entrapment and proceeded to treat and transport the three individuals to local hospitals. One other person injured was the son's best friend of a woman identified as Stephanie Paul, who expressed her concern, saying, "I feel really bad about everything," during an interview obtained by CBS Miami.
Northwest 95th Street had to be temporarily blocked off between Northwest 29th and 27th avenues as authorities conducted their investigation at the scene. A red sedan was observed making contact with the police cruiser in video footage from the scene. Stephanie Paul also mentioned that her son's friend, the driver of the car responsible for hitting the officer's vehicle, had planned to take her kids to school. "His leg and his arm. His mom is going to come and take him home and they are going to take him to the hospital," she assured, confiding her relief that the injuries were not more severe, according to CBS Miami.
The officer involved, who serves at Jackson Senior High School and is described as well-liked, is expected to be okay. As authorities continue to work out the details of the incident, the conditions of the other two individuals involved in the accident have yet to be released.
