The Oakland Police Department, in conjunction with the California Department of Tax and Fees, raided an unlicensed smoke shop on San Pablo Avenue last month, uncovering a trove of illegal goods and a stolen forklift. According to the Oakland Police Department, the initial inspection took place on December 27, 2024, revealing the shop's lack of necessary state and city licenses for tobacco and cannabis sales and other business permits.
Digging deeper into the shop's operations, authorities discovered an array of prohibited-flavored tobacco products, cannabis items, and Psilocybin magic mushrooms. The store was promptly served with a Nuisance Abatement Notice, demanding it to cease the unlicensed activities immediately and not to sell any illegal products. However, officers were compelled to serve a search warrant on Tuesday after the shop seemingly continued its illicit activities. This search led to the seizure of additional unauthorized products and the recovery of a forklift reported stolen in a 2022 burglary in Oakland.
The Oakland Police Department is actively urging community members to report any suspicious or illegal activities related to the sale of tobacco products and sales to minors. Reports can be made to the ABAT Complaint Hotline at (510) 777-8677.
