Yesterday morning, Richmond firefighters were dispatched to a significant blaze on Espee Avenue that demanded immediate attention. According to Richmond Firefighters' Instagram post, fire crews responded to a call at a commercial building where they found a two-story structure emitting smoke and flames. First on the scene, Engine 67 quickly executed a strategy to combat the inferno, securing entry into the building and laying down hose lines.
While tackling the blaze, Truck 64 performed vertical ventilation from the roof. However, due to the building's modifications and the fire's extent, a second alarm was requested. Fighting tirelessly, Richmond firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 30 minutes. Still, the situation kept them working on site until morning, checking for hotspots and ensuring the scene was safe.
There were no injuries were reported, as per the fire department.
