The Richmond Police Department is actively investigating a homicide after receiving a report late Friday night. According to a statement obtained by FOX59, officers were called to a scene of an "unwanted person" in the 600 block of South "P" Street around 11:55 p.m., where they discovered 39-year-old Douglas D. Jones lying in the street, exhibiting signs of severe trauma.
The response team, compromised of Richmond Fire Department medics, provided immediate aid to Jones. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead before a transfer from Reid Hospital to Miami Valley Hospital for advanced care could take place. "The investigation is ongoing," an official release stated as per information from Richmond Police Department on Facebook.
Detective work led by the Richmond Police hints at a stabbing as the cause of Jones's untimely demise. A physical altercation with another individual might have escalated, resulting in Jones receiving a fatal stab wound. As reported by WTHR, initial evidence supports this theory, yet no suspects have been named in connection with the incident.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Richmond Police Department Criminal Investigative Division at 765-983-7247.
