State Sen. Jean Leising, a Republican representing Oldenburg, has introduced a bill to change the composition of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) board. The bill would require that nine members, appointed by the governor, come from different congressional districts across the state. The governor would still be able to appoint three additional members from any location.
According to the Indiana Senate Republicans release, Leising said, "This bill would ensure all of Indiana has a voice in our state’s economic development, and that the interests of both urban and rural areas are represented.”
Leising has also introduced another bill concerning the agricultural sector. This bill addresses regulations for grain producers and the Indiana Grain Buyers and Warehouse Licensing Agency, aiming to improve and protect agricultural practices in the state.
As the 2025 legislative session begins, Leising is encouraging constituents from Senate District 42 to contact her with questions or suggestions. She has provided a digital "Contact Me" form and a phone line for communication, in the same release.
