A high-stakes pursuit involving Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers and two Illinois men accused of an armed robbery ended in apprehension yesterday. According to a social media post by the North District IMPD, 27-year-olds Cameron Love and Michael Scott were arrested after their alleged involvement in the robbery of a Burger King on Shadeland Ave. and a subsequent chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Details provided by the North District IMPD indicate that the incident occurred yesterday at around 10:39 a.m. when a masked individual leaped over the counter and brandished a firearm, demanding money from the fast-food chain's employees. Fleeing with stolen cash, the suspect was seen escaping in a black Chevrolet sedan. An officer from the North District, upon receiving descriptions of the vehicle from 911 callers, and witnesses located a car matching that description and attempted a routine stop. However, the vehicle led officers on a chase going westbound on E 86th St and continuing through Carmel where collaboration with other departments and strategic use of stop sticks ended the runaway vehicle's course on E 146th St.
Both Love and Scott surrendered to authorities without further incident. The police reported recovering cash presumed to be the proceeds of the Burger King robbery. Facing preliminary charges, Love's list includes robbery, intimidation, pointing a firearm, and resisting law enforcement, while Scott has been charged with robbery, resisting law enforcement, and property damage hit and run. As per the report shared by IMPD, both suspects are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
In showing appreciation for the concerted effort that led to the arrests, IMPD expressed gratitude toward the Carmel Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Indiana, and Westfield Police Department - Indiana for their support.
