With the stakes heightened, backup was soon on the scene, with specific members arriving from the FWPD’s Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Response Team (CRT), alongside the Air Support Unit (ASU) while the medics, from Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) had already made an attempt to contain the situation which was quickly spiraling beyond the usual medical distress call as the night veered towards a fraught standoff.
According to a statement released by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the EST made entry into the property in the early hours of Thursday, after several hours of negotiation and strategizing. Fortunately, this resulted in a resolution without additional confrontation or violence; by 12:18 a.m., the subject had been safely extricated from the residence and immediately received transportation to a local hospital courtesy of TRAA for further evaluation and care.
