Tomorrow, the Fishers Event Center will light up with the inaugural PVF All-Star Match, bringing the nation's top professional volleyball talents to central Indiana. The highly anticipated event will be broadcast nationally at 1:30 p.m. on CBS—and for local fans, it airs on CBS4.
Ahead of the exciting weekend, the Indy Ignite clinched a key victory against the Atlanta Vibe, securing the fourth spot in the Pro Volleyball Federation rankings right before the All-Star break. In a strong comeback performance, the Ignite overcame an initial setback to win in four sets, thanks in part to All-Star setter Sydney Hilley's 44 assists. "Syd did a better job with flow," told George Padjen, Ignite head coach, noting her improved pace, as reported by WTHR.
Pro volleyball fans are gearing up to see not only the sport itself but also the familiar faces of celebrity hosts — former NBA star Jalen Rose and Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson East will preside over the milestone event. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this match stands out as the first broadcast of a women's professional volleyball game on national television, signifying a step forward for the sport that only recently inaugurated the PVF league in 2024.
The rosters for Team Shondell and Team Collier feature prominent players from across the league, including several from the Indy Ignite. As reported by FOX59, notable athletes like Sydney Hilley and Kylie Murr of the Indy Ignite will take to the court under the watchful eyes of Purdue’s Dave Shondell and Georgia Tech’s Michelle Collier, who are headlining as the all-star coaches. Unfortunately, one star player on the list, Leketor Member-Meneh, won't be participating due to an injury.
Tickets for the event were dwindling as of today, hinting at a packed house ready to witness pro volleyball history in the making. For those not able to snag a ticket or make it to central Indiana, streaming options are available to ensure no one misses out on the action-packed event.
