
Boynton Beach witnessed a surge in police activity after a reported theft led to a vehicular confrontation and subsequent police chase. Yesterday afternoon, four individuals were apprehended following a retail theft at Dick's Sporting Goods, which culminated into an altercation involving a patrol car and a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 95.
According to CBS12, the incident began around 1:40 p.m. when a black Nissan was seen fleeing the scene of the theft. A Boynton Beach Police Department sergeant attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle was caught at a red light. During the attempt to evade, the suspects crashed into the patrol car and a subsequent vehicle before taking an escape route onto I-95.
In an official statement obtained by BocaNewsNow, the Boynton Beach Police Department declared "The vehicle continued to flee the scene and turned southbound onto I-95. Due to the crash, one of the vehicles tires fell off and the vehicle became disabled driving into the median. As a result, four individuals have been detained. The investigation is ongoing."
