A woman was found dead last Sunday night on Indianapolis' near north side, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities. FOX59 reported that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department dispatched officers around 8:50 p.m. to the 1600 block of North 16th Street following a welfare check.
Upon arrival, WRTV stated officers discovered an adult female with injuries consistent with what appeared to be trauma. Medical personnel arrived to the scene but, the woman was pronounced deceased. The ongoing investigation is being treated as a homicide, while the actual cause and manner of death, are to be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
The woman's identity has not been released, pending next of kin notification. Homicide detectives responded to the scene, but details of her death remain undisclosed. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have not provided further information as the investigation continues, according to WTHR.
