In a recent update from Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, an arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that took place in November 2024. According to a Facebook post by IMPD News, 18-year-old Stanley Proctor Jr. was apprehended for his alleged involvement in the murder of 26-year-old Frederick Martin III.
IMPD detectives were called to the scene on November 8, 2024, at around 8:30 p.m., where they found Martin III with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of 1517 N. Arlington Avenue. Despite the arrival of IEMS, Martin III was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an investigation that extended over several weeks, Proctor Jr. became the prime suspect. Eventually, Proctor Jr. decided to peacefully turn himself in yesterday. The suspect surrendered without incident after detectives from the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit managed to successfully negotiate.
It's been confirmed by the homicide detectives that the initial evidence pointed towards Proctor Jr., leading to a warrant for his arrest on a murder charge, as per the coordination with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. "Homicide detectives responded to begin the investigation," the IMPD News post stated. The prosecutor's office is yet to make a final charging decision.
Meanwhile, authorities emphasize that the arrest and charge at this stage are simply accusations. Proctor Jr. is to be considered innocent and has the right to maintain such presumption until proven guilty in a court of law. The process to definitively establish his guilt or innocence will unfold as the case is brought to trial.
