Two separate incidents of vehicle theft in Livermore have led to the arrest of 31-year-old Jared Moynahan and the recovery of the stolen cars. Moynahan, known to the police, was taken into custody following successful identification and surveillance efforts by local law enforcement, as the Livermore Police Department shared in a social media update.

On February 8, a theft report sprung Livermore officers into action for a car stolen from Via Granada sometime after midnight but before 9 a.m. An observant officer noticed the car rolling into the Home Depot parking lot on Las Positas Road. Known to law enforcement for reasons untold, Moynahan was spotted approaching the vehicle, along with his passenger, 46-year-old John Teixeira of Oakland. "After reviewing surveillance footage, officers arrested him along with his passenger," the Livermore PD detailed, pinning them with possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges.

The Livermore Police were already working on a case from February 7, where a car was taken from Del Mar Avenue. The diligent review of security tapes pointed unmistakably toward Moynahan as the person of interest. Pushed under the heat of interrogation, he confessed the whereabouts of the second stolen vehicle tucked away in San Lorenzo. In a joint maneuver, Livermore officers and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office retrieved the vehicle.
