
A tragic incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when a man was fatally shot on Indianapolis' west side, leading to a temporary lockdown of a nearby elementary school, authorities said. The shooting took place around 12:45 p.m. in the 5000 block of W. 36th Terrace, a residential area close to E. 34th Street and Georgetown Road, as reported by FOX59.
Officers who responded to the scene found Camari Hunt with a gunshot wound, and he was swiftly transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries, IMPD confirmed; the Carl Wilde School 79, situated less than half a mile from the crime scene, was put on lockdown as a precaution after the shooting occurred and before it was clear what the ongoing threat level was, which has since been rescinded according to IndyStar.
