A tragic incident in northwest Miami-Dade led to the arrest of four individuals connected to the murder of 20-year-old Delilah Ruiz. The alleged shooter and her boyfriend, Elijah Clarke, 19, was captured in Houston yesterday and is facing a murder charge, as reported by NBC Miami.
According to Local 10, the incident occurred at Ruiz's home near 18900 block of 63rd Avenue. Clarke and Ruiz reportedly argued over money before he shot her and fled in a vehicle driven by Christopher Valdes, 18, who was later charged as an accessory after the fact. Clarke, along with Rafael Torralba, 19, and Angelina Valledor, 17, were arrested in Texas by Houston police and face charges for hindering apprehension and prosecution.
Ruiz was transported to Memorial Hospital West in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead despite medical efforts, as detailed by NBC Miami.
Before the arrests, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information that could lead to an arrest in Ruiz's shooting death. The Sheriff's Office continues to urge anyone with further information to come forward, stating, "We need your help to bring justice for Delilah and her family," according to Hoodline.
Clarke remains in a Harris County Sheriff's Office jail facility in Texas, awaiting extradition to South Florida to face charges, while law enforcement continues to investigate the case.
