A 30-year-old North Miami Beach man died from injuries after colliding with a parked tractor-trailer on Florida's Turnpike in Coconut Creek, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash, which happened around 1:45 a.m. today in the southbound lanes near Coconut Creek Parkway, led to lane closures while emergency services and a tow truck responded.

Local 10 reported that the man was driving a 2016 black Toyota RAV4 when he veered into the inside emergency lane and struck the rear of a stationary 2020 red Freightliner tractor-trailer. His vehicle came to a stop facing northeast on the roadway.

After the crash, Coconut Creek Fire Rescue transported the driver to Broward Health North, where he was declared dead at 2:23 a.m. Authorities have not released his identity, pending next of kin notification. Information about a 55-year-old passenger from Buffalo, New York, was also limited, as officials did not disclose his condition.

NBC Miami noted that an unrelated crash earlier Tuesday on Coconut Creek Parkway blocked two lanes, adding to the traffic delays caused by both incidents. The investigation into the cause of the Turnpike collision is ongoing.
