Purdue University senior Ryan Riddlesperger is taking a dive into politics as an intern at the Indiana Statehouse. Majoring in political science, Riddlesperger brings his academic background to the legislative field, assisting the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus throughout the 2025 session. His experience at the Statehouse includes crunching bill data, offering constituent services, and conducting policy research—core responsibilities aimed at supporting Indiana's senators as they navigate the complex landscape of state governance.
In a statement obtained by the Indiana Senate Republicans, State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) said, "It is an honor to work with motivated interns like Ryan that contribute fresh perspectives." Even though Riddlesperger has his hands full with tasks ranging from staffing committee hearings to meeting support, Goode's dedicated to assist interns like him in cutting their teeth on state government operations. He sees this as an investment in the leadership of tomorrow, adding, "I'm glad to have I'm on my team this session," as per the Indiana Senate Republicans.
For Riddlesperger, serving under the wings of the state's policymakers is more than a learning curve—it's a chance to be directly involved in the legislative process. "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and assist these great senators as they work hard for the Hoosiers they represent," Riddlesperger told Indiana Senate Republicans. His role as an intern is intended to stretch through to the end of the session on April 29, offering him an extensive look at the legislative clockwork.
Interns in the Senate Majority are known to play significant roles, bridging the gap between the electorate and their elected officials. Riddlesperger, the son of Mike and Anna Riddlesperger from West Lafayette, is no exception. With the legislative session's deadline looming, he will have had the chance to witness firsthand the machinations of Indiana's political ecosphere, experiencing the rhythms of statehouse policymaking and the pull and tug of public service.
