The search for 67-year-old Richard Wayne Henderson continues in Danville, with law enforcement and the local community working together to locate him more than a week after he went missing. Henderson was last seen last Wednesday at the Cypress Manor assisted living facility, where he had been residing for 11 years. The Danville Metropolitan Police Department has expanded its investigation in collaboration with the Indiana State Police and the Indiana Missing Persons Clearinghouse, according to a FOX 59 report.
Authorities have faced challenges in the search as Henderson was known to not possess a cell phone, vehicle, and has limited financial activity, making it difficult to potentially track his movements. In an attempt to find some trace of Henderson, investigators deployed infrared drones and bloodhounds, and have gone so far as to interview dozens of individuals, including staff at the assisted living facility. The Danville Police Department shared on Facebook a request for residents to review any home security footage that might provide clues. This effort has been made more difficult without any surveillance footage existing from Cypress Manor itself, as the facility does not have such equipment installed.
A statewide Silver Alert remains in effect for Henderson, who is described as 5-foot-11, 250-pound, with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing an olive green sweatshirt, and officials emphasize he may be in extreme danger and require medical assistance, as mentioned by WTHR.
Despite facing these hurdles, the Danville Metropolitan Police Department continues to actively engage in the search, with the investigation covering an approximately 20-mile radius that includes a wooded area near the Cypress Manor. The information has been relayed through a social media post by the Danville Metropolitan Police Department, which also implores the local community to remain vigilant and to report any observed structures or places where Henderson might have sought shelter. As the effort enters another day, the police are hoping to ultimately secure his safe return.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Richard Wayne Henderson is encouraged to contact the Hendricks County Communications Center at (317) 839-8700 or email Detective Corporal Nate Lien at [email protected]. The Danville Police Department is calling for public assistance and emphasizes their commitment to finding Henderson. Updates will be provided on the case as they become available.
