A violent incident occurred in the typically quiet Encantada Residential Community in Pembroke Pines yesterday afternoon when a man allegedly attacked two individuals with a machete, sending them to the hospital with serious injuries. CBS12 reported that the Pembroke Pines Police Department received several 911 calls around 5:19 p.m. about the disturbance near SW 190 Avenue and SW 15th Street.
The assailant, identified by police as 38-year-old Darrell Dean Roberts, is accused of assaulting a service worker conducting repairs in a home. When a woman intervened in an attempt to stop the altercation, she too became a victim of the attack. Both victims were transported to the hospital with severe and life-threatening injuries. While this was a domestic incident, authorities have reassured that there is no further threat to the community. Roberts is now in custody and facing charges of attempted homicide, as per the information provided by the police.
Aerial footage captured by 7Skyforce showed a heavy presence of law enforcement and emergency vehicles in the area as police taped off part of the neighborhood. Further details revealed by WSVN indicate that the female victim was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition after sustaining multiple injuries to her face and arms. The male victim's condition has been described as serious.
Roberts has a history of domestic violence, with court records showing he has been previously arrested thrice at this address for incidents involving his father.
