A fatal collision involving a suspected drunk driver took place in Hendricks County yesterday, claiming the life of a female passenger and leading to the arrest of another driver. As WTHR reported, around 4:06 p.m., deputies responded to a crash where a Chrysler 300, heading eastbound on US 40, was struck by a Lincoln MKZ at the intersection of East US 40 and South State Road 39 as the latter vehicle failed to yield while attempting to turn onto SR 39.
The ensuing crash resulted in fatal injuries to a woman riding in the Chrysler, who was pronounced dead while being transported to Eskenazi Hospital. Still pending, according to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the Lincoln, a Clayton woman, underwent a blood draw for intoxication testing at Hendricks Regional Hospital before her transport to Hendricks County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated causing death.
Further detailing the incident, FOX59 indicated the collision took place as the Lincoln, which failed to yield while turning south, was hit by the Chrysler. The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the arrest of the Lincoln's driver, Tiffany Poole, a 48-year-old from Clayton, on the said charges. The impact of the collision prompted an immediate response, with law enforcement personnel and medical teams dispatched to the scene to tend to the victims and assess the unfolding tragedy
Identity of the deceased has not been disclosed as the authorities are in the process of notifying her family. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim as notifications are currently being made," conveyed by the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department during these trying moments of grief and loss, according to FOX59.
