
Two individuals were arrested last Friday following a carjacking near Merrillville, Indiana. Indiana State Police were alerted to a silver Honda driving on I-65, changing lanes quickly at high speed. The vehicle crashed near the U.S. 30 exit ramp, as reported by WGN-TV.
The occupants abandoned a wrecked Honda and stole a black Acura at knifepoint. They assaulted the Acura's driver, forced them out of the vehicle, and then fled westbound on U.S. Highway 30. Law enforcement responded quickly to the incident, as confirmed by FOX59.
Cain M. Knaus, 26, from Walshville, IL, and Stephanie V. Raices, 34, also known as Victor M. Zarate, were arrested after being charged with several offenses. Knaus was wanted for a parole violation. The Lake County Prosecutor's Office approved charges against both suspects, including "Armed Robbery- Level 3 Felony, Robbery- Level 5 Felony, Auto Theft- Level 6 Felony, Battery- Class B Misdemeanor, Leaving the Scene of a Crash- Class B Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving- Class C Misdemeanor." Both are currently in custody at the Lake County Jail awaiting legal proceedings, according to WANE.
