
Three individuals sustained injuries in a chain-reaction crash that occurred on the Northwest Side of Chicago last night, a calamity set in motion by an animal's unexpected presence on the roadway. The incident took place at approximately 10:08 p.m. in the 6500 block of North Caldwell Avenue, per the Chicago Police.
Reports from Chicago Sun-Times detail how a black sedan, travelling southbound, abruptly stopped to avoid colliding with the animal. Following this, a white minivan, unable to halt in time, rear-ended the sedan.
The driver of the black sedan was subsequently transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston; their condition has yet to be disclosed by authorities. As per FOX 32 Chicago, two passengers from the sedan also received medical attention and were taken to area hospitals in good condition for observation. By contrast, the white minivan's driver declined any medical treatment at the scene.
The aftermath of the accident, including whether the animal was harmed, has yet to be confirmed. Chicago's Major Accidents Investigations Unit is actively investigating the sequence of events that led to the crash.
