A 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with a string of armed robberies and a vehicular hijacking, as announced in a recent release by the Chicago Police Department. The incidents, involving the forceful taking of property at gunpoint, spanned across different areas within the city and varied victims.
The young offender faces three felony counts of robbery armed with a firearm and two felony counts of plain robbery, in addition to an aggravated vehicular hijacking charge involving the use of a firearm and a misdemeanor for obstructing identification. According to the Chicago Police, the police apprehended the suspect on March 27, 2025, in the 1100 block of S. Central Park Ave. This arrest came following incidents that included the armed robbery of a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male on a train near S. Racine Ave. on March 21.
Further charges stem from a sequence of events that took place less than an hour later the same night, during which the suspect allegedly participated in an armed robbery and aggravated vehicular hijacking of a 57-year-old male in the 3600 block of W. Grenshaw St. This was not the juvenile's first engagement with such crimes; on March 13, 2025, two other victims, aged 25 and 38, were robbed by the accused on a train located in the 400 block of S. Western Ave.
The Chicago Police have confirmed that the juvenile was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
