Utah State University's College of Engineering has scored a major catch for their team with the appointment of Dr. Christopher Fox as the new Associate Dean for Research. Fox, who until recently lent his talents to The Access to Advanced Health Institute in Seattle as the Senior Vice President of Formulations, is set to take the helm on April 28, marking a notable return to his alma mater, as reported by USU Today.
For a position of such stature, the search was both comprehensive and nationwide, according to the Dean of the College of Engineering, David Jones. "After a comprehensive, nationwide search, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Christopher Fox as the new associate dean for research," he said, as per USU Today, revealing the extensive industry experience and research leadership Fox brings to the table. With a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Utah to his name, it's clear that Fox's appointment is intended to boost the college's research initiatives significantly.
"I am excited and honored to join the College of Engineering at USU to lead the research enterprise," said Fox, as obtained by USU today. His previous engagements such as serving on the Industry Advisory Board at USU since 2017 and reviewing for the Swiss National Science Foundation just last year, have primed Fox with a robust portfolio of professional services, exceeding 25 distinct roles.
With an impressive track record of 130 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 16 other publications, and 14 patents or pending applications, Fox's work has garnered 8,657 citations, alongside broad press coverage. Not only has he contributed significantly to science, but also Fox has played an instrumental role in mentoring and shaping the minds of interns and postdoctoral scientists. His mentorship extended globally and spanned across continents as he mentored World Health Organization training fellows from Bangladesh and Nigeria, constructing vaccine research and manufacturing capacities in countries such as Brazil and India.
