
March marks a big time for high school basketball in Indiana, with the IHSAA boys basketball semi-state wrapping up and setting the stage for the state finals. Yesterday, teams competed in four classes in a single-elimination format to secure a spot in the state championship.
According to WTHR, in Class 4A, Fishers defeated South Bend Riley 82-46, and Crown Point won against Homestead 41-29. Fishers then went on to win the championship, defeating Crown Point 73-48.
In Class 3A, South Bend St. Joseph beat Maconaquah 115-81 and later secured the championship with an 84-72 win over East Chicago Central, reports IndyStar. This victory marks their return to the state finals after last year's success.
In Class 2A, Gary 21st Century narrowly defeated Wapahani 61-59, and Manchester edged out Jimtown 56-55. Manchester won the championship with a close 53-50 win over Gary 21st Century, according to WNDU. In Class A, Clinton Prairie and Orleans were crowned champions, with Clinton Prairie defeating Kouts 73-59 and Orleans winning against Clay City 50-47.
All eyes are now on Gainbridge Fieldhouse next weekend for the state championship games.
