NWS Indianapolis reports that the city will experience scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm, with temperatures peaking at a high near 76 degrees on Friday.
The calm before the storm sets a deceptively tranquil scene, but don't be fooled; precipitation is on the horizon. After a patchy morning fog lifts, today's temperature will climb to a comfortable 55 degrees, notwithstanding a 30 percent chance of scattered showers between the late afternoon hours. "Scattered showers, mainly between 2pm and 5pm," NWS warns. This evening, the sky will clear somewhat, leading to a partly cloudy night with a low of around 39 degrees.
Thursday doesn't promise to let up, ushering in more showers, particularly after 2 p.m., under mostly cloudy skies and a forecast high of around 56 degrees. The likelihood of precipitation jumps to 60 percent, with new rainfall amounting between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.
As the week progresses, so does the severity of the weather. "Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am," states NWS Indianapolis regarding Thursday night into Friday. Come Friday, a series of showers and thunderstorms are expected before 11 a.m., followed by a possible clearing between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The day's high is anticipated to be near a warm 76 degrees. The chances of rain do not recede, standing firm at an 80 percent probability.
The unsettled pattern continues into the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday also slated for showers and potential thunderstorms. Temperatures will hover around the 70-degree mark, a stark contrast to Sunday night's drop to a low around 41. Looking into next week, Indianapolis isn't quite free from the wet grasp of this weather system, as there's a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms on Monday, and a continuous possibility through Tuesday.
