
Early this morning, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a fatal shooting on the near east side of Indianapolis. According to FOX59, the shooting occurred just before 5 a.m. on the 300 block of North Arsenal Avenue. Officers arrived to find an adult male with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced deceased shortly after.
WTHR reported that the victim had been shot multiple times. IMPD detained a person of interest at the scene, suggesting a suspect may be identified soon. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
IMPD said that the area surrounding the crime scene, particularly North Arsenal Avenue and East New York Street, would be closed for an extended period, as WISH-TV reported. IMPD believes this was an isolated incident.
