Thirty-three years after his death, the Marion County Sheriff's Office honored Major Paul J. Ernst on the anniversary of his passing. The Marion County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook on Friday last week, the Sheriff's Office reflected on his nearly three decades of service, highlighting his dedication to the community.
Major Ernst, who joined the force on April 1, 1965, died in a motorcycle accident in 1992. He suffered chest injuries after a heart attack while returning home from an escort detail.
The post thanked Major Ernst for his service, expressing gratitude for his nearly 27 years in law enforcement.
