According to a social media post by the Greenwood Fire Department, the incident, which occurred just after 10 p.m. near a multi-jurisdictional boundary, prompted a coordinated response from police and firefighters from Greenwood, Homecroft, and Indianapolis to manage the scene and assist the victims.

As the situation unfolded, the Greenwood Fire Department relayed how their Engine 94 along with Medic 94 were first to arrive, upon finding an individual with their arm pinned by the vehicle’s door against the ground, the Engine 94 crew stabilized the vehicle while medics provided immediate care to the trapped passenger. When Ladder 91 and Engine 91 arrived, the teams used the Jaws of Life to lift the Jeep, freeing the individual in approximately two minutes. After stabilization, the person was transported to a local hospital for further medical attention.

Another individual involved in the same accident, related to a second vehicle, received assistance from Engine 92 and Medic 92 and was also taken to the hospital for treatment, as confirmed by the Greenwood Fire Department.

The Greenwood Police Department is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. In the immediate aftermath, the Homecroft PD and IMPD remained on scene to assist with traffic control.
