Tragedy struck Madison County yesterday afternoon as a 56-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed by a pickup truck on Old 132, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department reports; the incident occurred just east of 700 West, before 5 p.m., according to FOX59.
The victim, who was traveling eastbound on the road when the collision took place, was identified as a resident of Pendleton, and despite prompt medical attention and being transported to Saxony hospital in Fishers, he later succumbed to his injuries as reported by WTHR.
The pickup truck involved, a 2024 Dodge Ram, was driven by a 19-year-old and was heading in the same easterly direction as the bicyclist at the time of the fatal crash, the sheriff’s department detailed the sequence of events, while the young driver involved in the tragic incident remained physically unharmed, the emotional toll of such an event is yet to be determined; an investigation into the crash remains ongoing to piece together the causes and liability.
