Residents of Schererville and surrounding areas, mark your calendars for a face-to-face with local legislators. State Rep. Hal Slager and State Sen. Dan Dernulc are holding a town hall meeting to share updates on the 2025 Indiana legislative session and discuss community concerns. Scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m. CT, the event aims to shine a light on legislative priorities and gather public input.
Held at the St. John Township Community Center, located at 1515 W. U.S. Highway 30 in Schererville, the town hall offers an opportunity for constituents to engage directly with their representatives. Describing the importance of the gathering, Slager emphasized the benefits of open dialogue with the public. "I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions and discuss relevant issues with their state legislators," Slager said.
With the Indiana General Assembly in the thick of its session at the Indianapolis Statehouse, the deadline to wrap up proceedings looms on April 29, the representatives invite the public to reflect and offer insights—both sought originate from the first half of the session, before the second half commences. Dernulc highlighted the value of local input, saying, "Meeting with our local community is incredibly important, especially at this point in session."
