
A hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a pedestrian on the near east side of Indianapolis last night, with local authorities currently in search of the driver who fled the scene. As reported by FOX59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) received a call around 7:20 p.m. after the collision occurred at the intersection of East Washington and North Rural Streets, upon their arrival, they found the adult female victim badly injured.
The woman, who was found near East Washington and North Oxford Streets, was hastily taken to a nearby hospital in a critical state before ultimately succumbing to her injuries, only one witness to the accident has been identified by IMPD, who shared that the victim was crossing the street when struck and that the suspect's vehicle continued westbound on Washington Street after the incident. During the investigation, WISH-TV notes that the authorities have yet to release any descriptions of the suspect or the involved vehicle.
In an additional account provided by WTHR, the sole witness, a man walking along the same street offered that he could not recall specific details about the make, model, or color of the car in question.
