Early this morning, three luxury yachts caught fire in Northwest Miami-Dade, prompting a large response from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. According to Local10, the fire started around 3:30 a.m. near the Miami Marine Center marina on Northwest North River Drive. The blaze involved two 60-foot yachts and a 90-foot yacht.
Firefighters worked for hours to fully extinguish the fire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Sheriff's Office closed streets and used water and foam to combat the flames. WSVN reported that no injuries were reported despite the severity of the fire. One yacht was completely submerged, and another was nearly underwater. It is unclear if the fire posed a risk to nearby vessels.
NBC Miami reported that over 30 units from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene at around 3:34 a.m. By 6:30 a.m., the fire was under control. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue stated that while the fire was contained, units remained on the scene to handle fuel runoff and reduce the environmental impact. Oil spill response equipment, such as an oil-absorbent boom, was used to manage potential hazards. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
