An 18-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in Marion after allegedly shooting a 17-year-old during a vape cartridge sale. According to WISH-TV, the incident occurred late Monday evening off State Road 15/South Western near West 17th Street, an area known for its retail and service businesses.
The victim, who has not been named by police, is in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. After local residents provided tips, suspect Cordel Bice was located at a home within the Woodlands Manufactured Home Community, as reported by WTHR. Witnesses described a white Pontiac fleeing the scene, which served as a pivotal clue leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
Further details emerged that the weapon used in the shooting was found discarded in a trash bin near an intersection close to where the crime took place. This evidence linked Bice to the crime, according to information shared by FOX59. The victim, before being taken to the hospital, was able to identify his alleged shooter to authorities.
Bice was detained inside a trailer at the 1500 block of S. Miller Avenue without further incident and was subsequently transported to the Grant County Jail. Adding to the charges of attempted murder, Bice faces robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. The case still remains under investigation by Marion Police Department, which continues to piece together the events that escalated over what appears to have began as a vape cartridge transaction.
