Yesterday afternoon took an unexpected turn when a red pickup truck crashed into the German Township Fire Department headquarters just before 5:30 p.m., prompting emergency crews to respond at their own location.
According to 44 News, initially dispatched to an extrication accident, German Township Fire Department responders were informed en route of a change in their destination.
Upon arrival, they discovered the vehicle lodged within their facility. The department's prompt and efficient actions enabled the safe extrication of the driver. Despite the seriousness of the collision, no injuries were reported, as noted by WTHR.
The structural aftermath left the headquarters temporarily unusable. A release obtained by FOX59 stated that while the headquarters is temporarily out of service, the crash will not affect the department's ability to respond to calls or impact response times.
