Beginning this Thursday evening, commuters on the west side of Indianapolis will face traffic disruptions as the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) initiates lane closures on I-465 for concrete restoration work. In a notice obtained by FOX59, the closures will take place between I-70 and 38th Street, impacting evening and overnight travel.
The construction schedule, which spans over two weeks, outlines specific closures. From yesterday through Sunday, INDOT is closing the right lane going southbound on I-465, between 10th Street and I-70, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to IndyStar. Subsequently, from April 28 to May 4, the left two to three lanes heading northbound, between I-70 and 38th Street, will be closed during the same hours.
To further clarify, the lane closures will extend approximately two miles at a time and shift locations within the project limits as work progresses. A release shared by WRTV reminds travelers to "slow down, exercise extra caution, and refrain from distractions while driving in and near work zones."
