After a two-year break, Bays Mountain Park is bringing back its popular "Park After Dark" event on April 26, as reported by The City of Kingsport. The evening kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with food and dessert trucks, including La Abejita and an ice cream truck, setting the stage for a night of nature, stargazing, and community fun.
Programs begin at 7:00 p.m., offering something for every night owl. Hikers can meet at the Nature Center at 6:45 p.m. for a guided trek to Sentinel Point—a four-mile round-trip hike expected to last about three hours.
At 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., visitors can choose between a peaceful barge ride on the park’s reservoir or an interactive wildlife experience at the Nature Center. Both activities cost $10 and include hot chocolate.
For astronomy enthusiasts, the park’s Observatory will host a free StarWatch session at 9 p.m. Guests can also grab a limited-edition event sticker at the gift shop.
Park Ranger Laura Ellis encourages the community to join in, stating, “Come join us for a memorable evening where nature and community come together under the night sky.” Volunteers are welcome and can contact Ellis at 423-229-9447 for more information.
