Mayor Deb Whitfield and Foamcraft, Inc. officials put shovels to dirt earlier this week to kick off the construction of The Corner at Fort Ben. This new development, sited adjacently to the Fort Ben Indianapolis Public Library Branch, is set to inject a burst of commercial energy into Lawrence with its mix of retail and dining establishments sprawling over 15,000 square feet.
Billed as a high-end culinary and shopping venue, The Corner at Fort Ben will feature an array of enticing businesses, including a bakery, a coffee shop, and, according to information obtained by the City of Lawrence's official news announcement, "a ice cream shop." On warm summer evenings, local residents will soon enjoy rooftop patios, inviting them to relax and enjoy may also the scenic views—provided by the meticulously designed common areas meant to foster a sense of community.
More than just sweets and caffeine, Foamcraft’s own Comfort Option mattress store will serve as one of the development's anchors. As the heart of The Corner at Fort Ben, Foamcraft touts its inclusion as a nod to local craftsmanship—promising custom, rebuildable mattresses fashioned within Indiana's own industrious hands.
