Logansport native Myah Yax is currently serving as a legislative intern with State Rep. Ethan Manning (R-Logansport) during the 2025 legislative session. Working at the Indiana Statehouse, she's diving into the nitty-gritty of constituent correspondence and legislative hearings while pursuing her junior year studies in psychology and political science at Purdue University.
As someone who hails from Logansport High School, Yax's growing involvement in state politics is marked by her responsibility to answer phone calls and respond to letters and emails from those Manning represents. As an intern, she also helps out during committee hearings and floor proceedings, immersing herself in the legislative machine. While not discussing her tasks, Yax expressed in a statement obtained by Indiana House Republicans, "I have loved getting firsthand experience with lawmakers and the legislative process."
Rep. Manning praised Yax for her contributions to the Statehouse team in an interview with Indiana House Republicans, affirming, "Myah is doing impactful work as a legislative intern at the Statehouse this session." He added that her efforts are significantly benefiting colleagues and constituents alike, and is convinced that this apprenticeship is building a sturdy foundation for her future endeavors.
Indiana House of Representatives offers annually at the year's start, internships that are paid to those eligible — encompassing college students, those in law school, graduate scholars, and recent graduates — to support the legislative session in various capacities.
