
A tragic incident unfolded in Cass County when a collision on Tuesday claimed the life of a woman and left two others, including a child, injured. Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving a call about the accident around 3:05 p.m., at the intersection of US 24 and County Road 600 East, as reported by FOX59.
According to the Cass County Indiana Sheriff's Office, the woman, a resident of Logansport, was driving northbound in a 2009 Ford Escape on County Road 600 E when she crossed into the westbound lanes of US 24, in the process allegedly failing to yield the right of way to a passenger vehicle, this according to a press release retrieved by FOX59.
The tragic consequence of the crash saw her vehicle struck by a westbound Nissan Rogue, resulting in her death upon impact and injuring the driver of the Nissan and a three-year-old passenger; both survivors were transported to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening by officials, information disclosed by WTHR.
The deceased driver's name is withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, meanwhile, the investigation into the crash proceeded with a preliminary finding that neither impairment nor intoxication were factors, which was confirmed by deputies; an account relayed by WTHR.
