A man has died following a shooting that disrupted the early morning tranquility of Miami's Brickell neighborhood. According to Local 10 News, Miami police were dispatched to Southwest First Avenue and Eighth Street around 12:45 a.m. today, where they discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds.
The incident, described by eyewitnesses as a sudden burst of gunfire, caused the police to rapidly close down nearby streets and launch an investigation into the fatal event. As reported by NBC Miami, a witness recounted the shock of the moment, saying, "We were sitting like having fun and eating here, and suddenly... we heard like so many shots. Like seven, or eight or nine. Like in less than one minute, so many cops came and everything, and we saw that they started closing streets." The name of the deceased man has not been immediately made public.
Crime scene indicators, such as yellow markers that are often used to denote bullet casings, surrounded the perimeter of the incident, emphasized by the gray SUV riddled with bullet holes sitting outside the Brickell City Center. The Miami Police Department has yet to release details regarding any potential suspects, but the search to ascertain the motive and perpetrator behind this criminal act continues unfaltering.
In a statement obtained by WSVN, a witness named Mohammed Sabbuba provided his account of the chilling sequence of events: "We were sitting and having fun and eating here, and suddenly we heard so many shots, like seven or eight or nine, and then in less than one minute, like, so many cops came and everything. And we saw that they started closing the streets and everything." He also mentioned the presence of another potential victim, a woman, though her involvement and status remain unclear at this point in the investigation.
Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva has encouraged anyone with information about the shooting to urgently come forward and contact the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, urging witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the event to assist in bringing a resolution to this case.
