Excitement was palpable as passengers boarded the Norwegian Cruise Line's latest addition, the Norwegian Aqua, setting off from PortMiami on a voyage through the Bahamas. The new ship, embarking with 4,000 travelers, is the inaugural vessel in the cruise line's Prima Plus class and offers a bevy of onboard activities catering to a variety of tastes and ages.
According to a report by WSVN, the Norwegian Aqua is laden with attractions including the Aqua Slidecoaster, touted as the world's first hybrid roller coaster with a waterslide. "Wait, let me get pretty," said one eager family member in anticipation of a photo-op against the backdrop of their latest adventure. Wesley Mar, surrounded by 18 family members in matching yellow T-shirts, shared the joy of family togetherness, "Yeah, it’s really nice to be together."
The ship's christening was no ordinary affair either, as Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet served as the godfather, imbuing the vessel with traditional maritime blessings. The christening, held at Norwegian’s LEED Gold Certified terminal, came with live performances and updates on the cruise line's private island destination, Great Stirrup Cay, as detailed by Local10.
From high-tech gaming in the Aqua and Luna Game Zone to a diversity of culinary experiences curated by executive chef Nicholaos Trandas, the ship promises something for all. Culinary exploration awaits passengers, "People nowadays, they want to try different culinary experiences, so from Thai to Italian to Mediterranean, we feature all of these in one location and all around the ship as well," Trandas expressed, serving a feast to satisfy diverse palates, as mentioned by WSVN. For those looking to wind down after indulging in the ship's delights, the Mandara Spa stands ready to pamper from head to toe.
By night, the Glow Court transitions from a sports complex with an interactive LED floor to a pulsating nightclub, offering a unique experience to travelers. Marzena Slodyczka, Cruise Director for the Norwegian Aqua, highlighted the multifaceted attractions on board, "It is right here. It is the first-in-the-world hybrid roller coaster with a water slide." In addition to the innovative attractions, the Norwegian Aqua will also feature world-class entertainment, including "Revolution: A Celebration of Prince," promising an elevated experience for its passengers as it sails the Caribbean until April 2026, as WSVN reported.
