In the heart of Indiana politics, a young mind takes strides towards shaping a Hoosier tomorrow. Cameron Andrews, the Porter County native who graduated from Washington Township High School, has landed an internship where laws are made and policies are shaped — under the watchful eye of State Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) and his team in the Indiana House of Representatives for their 2025 session.
As reported by Indiana House Republicans, Andrews is currently a junior at Indiana University Indianapolis, pursuing degrees in management and marketing, destiny seems to have led him to Soliday's office, where he delves into the everyday work of governance, corresponding with constituents, staffing committee hearings, and legislative floor proceedings.
"Being able to network and be at the hub of where decisions are made are what makes this worth it," Andrews told the Indiana House Republicans news outlet. He added, "Contributing to the state and providing a better tomorrow for Hoosiers is what I strive to do every day." It's clear that, for Andrews, this is not just a rung on the career ladder, but a platform to influence change in his community.
Soliday himself sees the value in this program, noting to the Indiana House Republicans, "Cameron has a great opportunity to gain the skills he needs and make important connections to help him start his career." The representative emphasized interns' role as a crucial conduit between lawmakers and the people they serve, helping both members and constituents throughout the session.
