The City of Raleigh offers some tips for picking up mulch at the Yard Waste Center. Be sure to bring an open truck bed or trailer, as they don't load mulch into enclosed vehicles. Check your vehicle's weight limits before heading there.
According to the City of Raleigh, mulch color may vary depending on the wood used and the season. If you want dyed mulch, plan to let it cure for 24 to 48 hours before hauling it, and be aware that the color may fade with rain. For the best color consistency, buy your dyed mulch during dry weather.
Spring and fall are busy times at the Yard Waste Center, with first-come, first-served service for retail pickups. Bulk orders may take longer to prepare.
