A Seymour woman has died following a traffic collision between her vehicle and a box truck on US 50, state police reported. The accident occurred yesterday morning near the I-65 interchange, a hub surrounded by restaurants, hotels, and businesses. Anna E. Grove, 41, was driving eastbound in her gold 2007 Mazda when she made an attempt to turn north onto Stevens Way.
According to WISH-TV, at around 6:20 a.m., Grove's car was struck by a 2025 Freightliner box truck operated by 55-year-old David Gosman of Greenfield. The collision was powerful enough to prompt a response from the Indiana State Police crash reconstruction team, as informed by local Seymour Police Department at the scene.
Further investigation by state police has concluded that the incident took place as Grove was turning onto Stevens Way, crossing into the path of the oncoming truck. FOX59 states that Grove was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital in Seymour. The truck driver, Gosman, escaped the event without injury.
The state police initiated tests for impairment, despite their initial assessment that drugs or alcohol were likely not contributing factors in the crash. "Tests for impairment were conducted. The results of the tests are pending, but state police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash," as described by WTHR. The traffic was significantly affected in the vicinity of the accident for more than two hours as the investigation and cleanup proceeded.
