A teenage boy in South Seattle was left injured after a shooting incident that occurred early yesterday afternoon. Seattle police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2800 block of Rainier Avenue South at approximately 1:12 p.m. The officers discovered a 15-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound in his pelvis area, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The Seattle Fire Department was quick to provide medical assistance at the scene before transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where he was listed in serious, but stable condition, as detailed by the Seattle Police Department. The shooting occurred near a gas station, where the victim and two other teens had a confrontation with suspects on a lime scooter. In an unsettling turn of events, one of the teens accompanying the victim reportedly exchanged gunfire with the assailants.
Following the shooting, two of the teens departed in a vehicle, regrettably leaving the injured boy behind. The suspects managed to escape the vicinity on their scooter before police presence could deter their flight, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident as officers have yet to locate them. The Seattle Police Department's Gun Violence Reduction Unit is on the case, diligently working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
The authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward, as per the Seattle Police Department. The investigation is active, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
