On Monday, Governor Spencer J. Cox will solidify the remembrance of a solemn piece of Utah's history with a ceremonial bill signing. The event, scheduled for April 21 at 11:30 a.m. in Salt Lake City's Memory Grove Park, will be held to commemorate the passage of H.B. 32. This legislation officially names Route 102 through Tremonton and Thatcher the Borgstrom Brothers Memorial Highway, in honor of the four Borgstrom brothers who died during World War II.
The signing ceremony will occur at the park's Meditation Chapel, 300 N Canyon Rd. As stated by the Utah Governor's Office, the list of attendees includes Gov. Spencer J. Cox, Senator Scott Sandall, Representative Thomas Peterson, Tremonton Mayor Lyle Holmgren, and members of the Borgstrom Family, whose sacrifice will be forever etched into the highway's new name.
The loss of the four brothers is a poignant reminder of the human cost of war, and this act of remembrance ensures their story will continue to be a part of Utah's collective memory. Ceremonies like these pay tribute to individual heroes and serve as a touchstone, connecting us to the larger narrative of sacrifice and service that has shaped our nation.
