Putnam County witnessed a display of community spirit as volunteer fire departments came together yesterday, Easter Sunday, to tackle a house fire in Bainbridge. The Bainbridge Community Volunteer Fire Department (BCVFD) was the first on the scene of a single-story structure fire reported at approximately 2:39 p.m., according to their official Facebook post. Rapid intervention by the firefighters contained the blaze to the single residence, preventing a larger disaster.
The collaborative effort involved personnel and resources from five other fire departments, recognizing the emergency's magnitude and the immediacy required for an effective response. In a statement obtained by Fox59, BCVFD confirmed that "no civilians or firefighters were injured during the blaze." Furthermore, support from the Bainbridge Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office played a crucial role at the scene, ensuring the safety and coordination of the response effort.
Sunday's incident, while unwelcome, showcased the importance of the volunteer departments' readiness and mutual aid. The BCVFD along with the Roachdale Vol Fire Department, Clinton Township Volunteer Rescue & Fire Department, Greencastle Fire Department, Floyd Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Bellmore Volunteer Fire Department worked in tandem to manage the emergency.
